Beginner’s 5K Training Schedule

Use this schedule as the basis for your 5K training.

So you’ve decided to run a 5K–3.1 miles. Good for you! The key to finishing a race of any distance, but particularly the longer distances, is being prepared. How do you prepare? By gradually getting your body ready for the feat of strength you’re undertaking. This involves slowly ramping up your mileage and planning rest days, too. (Yep, you read that right!)

If you’re brand-new to running, check out our Couch to 5K Training Plan. It covers the basics and features a free downloadable training calendar.

Before you start any training program, it’s always a good idea to consult your physician.
